Ring sizes: how to measure and size chart

A well-fitting ring stays securely on your finger while sliding over the knuckle with ease. Below you'll find a size chart and three simple ways to measure your finger at home. It takes just two minutes, using a piece of string or a ring you already own.

Ring size chart

At MAUGO, we use Polish jewellery sizes. Your size is your finger's circumference in millimetres minus 40, so size 13 corresponds to a circumference of 53 mm. The chart also includes European (EU) and US equivalents.

PL size Circumference (mm) Inner diameter (mm) EU size US size
4 44 14,0 44 3
5 45 14,3 45 3,25
6 46 14,6 46 3,75
7 47 15,0 47 4
8 48 15,3 48 4,5
9 49 15,6 49 5
10 50 15,9 50 5,25
11 51 16,2 51 5,75
12 52 16,6 52 6
13 53 16,9 53 6,5
14 54 17,2 54 6,75
15 55 17,5 55 7,25
16 56 17,8 56 7,5
17 57 18,1 57 8
18 58 18,5 58 8,5
19 59 18,8 59 8,75
20 60 19,1 60 9,25
21 61 19,4 61 9,5
22 62 19,7 62 10
23 63 20,1 63 10,25

US sizes are approximate and rounded to the nearest quarter size. Available sizes vary by design. You'll find the full list on each ring's product page.

How to measure your ring size at home

Method 1: measure a ring you already own

This is the most accurate method you can use at home.

  1. Choose a ring that fits the finger on which you plan to wear your new ring.
  2. Place it on a ruler and measure the inner diameter, the distance between the inside edges at the widest point.
  3. Find the result in the “Inner diameter” column in the chart above. For example, a diameter of 16.9 mm corresponds to size 13.

Method 2: measure your finger with string or a strip of paper

  1. Wrap a piece of string or a narrow strip of paper around the base of your finger. It should sit snugly without feeling tight.
  2. Use a pen to mark where the ends meet.
  3. Measure the length in millimetres using a ruler. This is your finger's circumference.
  4. Subtract 40 to get your size. For example, a circumference of 54 mm corresponds to size 14.

Also check that a loop of string of this circumference can pass over your knuckle. If your knuckle is noticeably wider than the base of your finger, choose a size between the two measurements.

Method 3: visit a jeweller

Visiting a local jeweller for a professional measurement is the most accurate way to find the right size for a new ring. If that isn't possible, try the methods above.

Tips for finding the right fit

  • Measure in the evening at room temperature. Fingers are slimmer in the morning and in the cold, and may swell slightly in hot weather or after exercise.
  • Between sizes? Choose the larger size.
  • A wide band or signet ring fits more snugly than a slim ring. For wider designs, choose half a size to one size larger than you would for a delicate ring.
  • Measure the finger on which you'll wear the ring. Different fingers, even on the same hand, often need different sizes, and the same finger on your other hand may differ too.
  • Measure two or three times and use the result that repeats.

Adjustable and open rings

If you don't know your size, choose a design you can adjust yourself. Our collection includes adjustable rings such as Amber Dots, as well as open designs such as Duo and Foam Open. See all MAUGO rings.

Frequently asked questions

How can I find someone's ring size for a gift without asking?

Briefly borrow a ring they often wear and measure its inner diameter (method 1). You can also trace the inside of the ring on paper. If this isn't possible, choose an adjustable design or give a gift cardso the recipient can choose their own size.

How do I convert a European or US size to a Polish size?

The European (EU) size is the circumference in millimetres, so simply subtract 40. EU size 54 is Polish size 14. You'll find US sizes in the last column of the chart.
